Here are a few Facts about Eid-al-Adha and how it is celebrated as an important festivals in Islam:

1. Eid-al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu-al-Hijja. It shifts every year, almost 11 days prior to the last.
2. Eid-al-Adha has no mention in the Quran.
3. It is widely celebrated by offering the killing of goats and the consuming of some of its meat within the family and some being distributed amongst the needy and poor.
4. Eid-al-Adha is celebrated in honor of Abraham for his willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail just on the pretense of having seen himself slaughtering him in his dream because he felt that it was God’s message to do so.
5. But just as he was about to do so, God gave him a replica to kill and his son was hence not killed.

This festival is celebrated with the Morale of showing the fellow Muslims that God is a savior, if we follow his commands, we will be Rewarded.
