Since when?
A small cloth tied by Draupadi on Krishna’s bleeding finger, was returned to her by Krishna, in the form of an unending cloth, saving her from humiliation and hunger of those monsters. And that is believed to be the start of Rakshabandhan.
A few numbered stories and references have been dug out from the Scriptures relating to this festival of brothers and sisters. One of which also includes the story of how King Humayun received a rakhi from Rani Karnavati.
Rakshabandhan is since then, no more just an Indian festival that comes annually. It is celebrated with love, respect and admiration in many parts of the world, even by people with a different religious belief.
And that is possible only because of one thing - the love between siblings is the same, unaffected by religion or country. Rakshabandhan 2023 is a much awaited festival, the preparations for which have already started in all parts of the country.
